Email Tracking
Click's CRM and Sales Engagement track clicks on hyperlinks contained in emails. Currently, images and attachment clicks are not tracked.
Note: Every email sent through the system (except notifications) contains a tracking pixel (1x1) that registers an open when downloaded. If the receiver chooses not to load the email's image content, then it's not possible to know if the email was opened or not.
This is the only legal way to track an email. All other attempts will be considered security breaches and the sender email will end up being blocked.
Advanced Email Tracking
Advanced email tracking will ensure that all emails are being automatically tracked and will display in the timeline for the contact.
Note: This is a Microsoft Dynamics 365 system setting that can be configured by the system admin.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 can use correlation to create relationships between email activities and other records by using information from email headers to automatically track email conversations. To help ensure accurate identification and links, you can add a tracking token to the subject line of outgoing email messages. You can also let the system automatically link email activities to other records by enabling smart matching will display them in the timeline for the contact.
- Navigate to Settings
- Select Advanced Settings
- Select the Settings dropdown
- Select Administration
- Select System Settings
- Navigate to the Email tab
- Check "Use correlation to track email conversations".
